You would be forgiven for thinking that buying a new house is a great way to ensure years of hassle-free home owning but unfortunately this is often not the case.

New builds can have many advantages. Lots of people are attracted to the clean open plan living that many of them offer and also another big bonus is often the thought of not having to worry about issues with the building or the fixtures and fittings for a good number of years. Although most new builds are covered but some sort of warranty, you still do not want to have to try and recoup money or get work done as soon as you move in.

There are a number of issues which are being seen more and more across new build properties which does make you think twice before you commit.

One common issue is the brickwork. You may find that it has not been pointed correctly. Overtime this can lead to water or frost damage which will need to be rectified. Sometimes there is such a call for new builds and the builders are on such a tight deadline, that work is rushed. It may not be finished completely or to the standard it should have been.
