Does a wet room put off potential buyers?

If you are considering changing or renovating a bathroom in a property one of the decisions that will need to be made is whether to go for a standard bathroom suite or whether to have a wet room. The major difference between the two is that a wet room has waterproof walls and floor removing the need for a bath or shower tray. This can be a real advantage if there is a person living in the home with mobility issues as a wheelchair can simply be pushed straight into the wet room but does having a wet room put off potential buyers if the house is to be sold?

Even if there is not a disabled person living in the house a wet room can be an advantage to a family. There are no worries about splashes from the bath or shower damaging the flooring in the room and if there are dogs in the household washing them is a lot easier. For active families who may enjoy off road cycling and get muddy in the process it is much simpler to shower in a wet room and clean up afterwards.

Some families prefer to have a separate toilet rather than having one in the wet room but as long as the toilet is far enough away from the showerhead there should not be a problem with water getting onto the toilet.
