If you have decided it is time to put your house on the market then you will need to make sure that you get it in the best condition to make it easy to sell and to achieve the best price for it. There are a number of factors you need to consider but you must always bear in mind the amount you are spending on it compared to how much value it will add. Some people get a bit carried away when it comes to decorating a house in preparation for sale. You need to make it look nice and clean but spending a fortune on light fittings and taps is not going to raise the value of the house.

Don’t forget to think about the outside space too. First impressions are vital and kerb side appeal is a must. Keep the lawns mowed, remove any waste from the side or front of your home and try to tidy up the drive or garden area, even adding a hanging basket by the front door and brighten up the appearance.

Inside, you may want to give each room a lick of paint. Never paint the room in bold colours as this may not be to everyone’s taste. Instead opt for neutral colours such as magnolia or pastels that gives the appearance of more space.
