If you are looking to give your bathroom a bit of a spruce up then you may consider tiling the walls. Not only can you add colour, texture and patterns to your bathroom using titles but it also makes it very easy to clean.

When doing any decorating or DIY work the main thing is preparation and this is especially true when it comes to titling.

Firstly you need to estimate the number of tiles you think you will be needing. Take a measurement of the height and width of the wall to be tiled and multiply these together. Next, work out if there is any space that will not be tiled such as windows; do the same for them but subtract this number from the total area. This will give you the area of the wall. When ordering tiles always round up to the nearest square meter and allow up to 10% for wastage.

It is very important to check that the wall is straight before you start to tile it, especially if you are using large tiles as otherwise they will not sit flat and will not hold properly to the wall. IF the wall does bow then you will either need to use smaller mosaic tiles, have the wall plastered to make it level or build up a layer of tile glue underneath the dipped areas.
