Children’s Bathrooms

Fifty years ago, young children would have cursed the weekly bath night. With Mum over- exuberantly scrubbing behind ears and washing hair with shampoo that was not manufactured with children in mind, weekly bath nights were torture for little ones keen to continue playing and having fun.

However, many of today’s more affluent families, living in multi-bathroomed homes, often have a bathroom just for the children. What child would not be enticed by bathing in a coloured acrylic bath? Or by warm water covered in bubbles suitable for sensitive skin and eyes, a net of brightly coloured toys hanging from the taps and with surroundings conducive for play and enjoyment.

These days, the DIY stores which inhabit most out of town retail parks, sell a vast array of Disney character shower curtains, friendly frog toothbrush holders, mirrors edged with dinosaur silhouettes and colourful shelving in bright primary colours. Bath time? Yes, please. Surely no child would resist today.
