When you select a tile for your next home project, you’ll find that you have many choices. Ceramic tiles are the most popular because it is functional and durable. But you can also choose decorative tiles, such as metal or glass tiles. Which trim tile is right for you depends on what you plan to do with it.

First, let’s look at a few tips that you need to consider for your next tile project and tips for certain areas of your home’s tiles.

Be sure that when you purchase a tile, this is consistent with your goal. For example, some tiles are strong enough that they can be installed outdoors in almost any climate. Another tile, however, is strong enough for interior floors or walls and countertops. Therefore, when choosing a tile, it is important to choose the right slab for work.

Pay attention to how the tiles are designed for slip resistance. What this means, heavily glazed tiles will not work very well in wet rooms, such as bathrooms, driveways and kitchens.

If speed is important, remember that larger trim tile is installed faster on average.

Find out if tiles are available, such as bovine tiles (tiles with one or two rounded edges instead of four corners of 90 degrees) and a plate (aka curved) that you are considering. These pieces can be crucial in order to make the installed tile visually pleasing, especially in bathrooms and kitchens.

If there is no finishing tile in your tile, try selecting the second tile and adjusting its trim elements for use in the coordinated design that you create. If necessary, you can also use wood strips instead of finishing.

Traps to avoid when selecting trim tile

The tile is very durable – so many that depending on the use of some types can last a lifetime at home. When choosing something fashionable, such as glass or metal, can seem stylish at the time, it can also look obsolete in a few years. Solid or slightly patterned tiles in neutral colours have a classic look and are easy to decorate.

Other problems to consider include:

Very light solid particles (eg, almond and white) or very dark tiles (for example, dark blue, black and chocolate brown) show more soil.

High-thin tiles easily show dim marks from people and pets.

To make the room larger, choose large, light tiles. Go with smaller, darker plates to make the space seem smaller and more intimate.

Take home some trim tile samples so you can understand how they will look. Dry layer (set the tiles on the surface without a solution) to see if the colour and design is working with the room lighting. You can also check the potential floor and countertops for heels and pots. Also, check the tiles to make sure they are easy to clean.

White and light solutions can be difficult to keep clean. This is especially true on the floors and countertops. By choosing a darker solution – for example, dark grey or hazel brown – it can save a lot of cleaning time.

Choosing the Right trim tile for You

Remembering these tips and tile suggestions, the choice of tiles will be quick. To achieve the best results of the project, plan in advance. Also, remember that what you choose today can theoretically last for decades, so be sure that the choice you make is sound.
